Overview

Grain Drying & Aeration

Grain drying and aeration takes wet corn and other grain from harvest moisture down to a safe storage level so it holds quality instead of spoiling, heating, or losing test weight

Grain drying and aeration takes wet corn and other grain from harvest moisture down to a safe storage level so it holds quality instead of spoiling, heating, or losing test weight. Custom operators run continuous-flow, batch, or bin dryers and manage aeration fans and stirators to move a large volume of grain through a tight fall window.

Getting moisture right is what protects the crop through storage and at the scale. Corn and other grain harvested wet has to be dried and cooled evenly to avoid mold, insects, and dry-matter loss, and over-drying just burns fuel and shrinks weight you get paid for. Experienced drying crews target the right final moisture for the crop and buyer and keep grain conditioned while it is in storage.

Typically priced by the bushel or ton of grain moved, or by the hour, depending on how wet the crop comes in and the dryer setup. Book drying on its own or bundled with grain harvest, grain carts, and hauling.
